KACHEN magazine has selected some of the most beautiful hikes and walks in Luxembourg. The selected routes, mainly in the Mullerthal, all have the same starting and ending point.
The first route takes us to Berdorf on the B15 route, whose 6 kilometres lead us through cliffs and forests. This hike is perfect for beginners as it shows little difference in altitude. Ideal for a pleasant afternoon walk with the dog and family.
The J13 trail gives us an opportunity to discover the municipality where the cult Netflix series, Capitani, was filmed. The path takes us through the forest and along calm fields and meadows for 10.5 kilometres. And why not end the walk with a visit to chef René Mathieu’s restaurant La Distillerie?
For walking enthusiasts, the E1 walk in Echternach is a must. Don’t let the hill at the start put you off, because the stunning view at the top will quickly make you forget all your efforts. The 13.5 km long trail leads you mainly through the forest and along a small river, which unfortunately dries up regularly in summer.
The next trail is located in Vianden and presents an excellent excursion for advanced hikers with its 12 kilometres. The Nat’our 5 offers a significant difference in altitude and is more challenging than it initially lets on to be. The view at the top is breathtaking and even grants a view of the dam, as well as the many beautiful terraces within the area.
The last trail takes us back to the Müllerthal; the Fred Welter in Consdorf is a little longer with 23 kilometres, but ideal to escape in nature for a day. Leading over a terrace, it also provides an opportunity to strengthen yourself with a refreshing drink or snack. The hike leads mainly through the forest and is perfect for warm summer days.
