Basic recipe for mashed potatoes
Ingredients
- 1 kg potatoes (floury)
- 50 g butter
- 0.25 l cream or milk
- 2 tsp salt
- nutmeg
Instructions
1. Mashed potatoes can be easily made by yourself. To do this, boil peeled and halved potatoes of a floury variety for about 20 minutes in salted water until they are done.
2. In the meantime, briefly bring milk, cream, butter cubes, nutmeg, salt and pepper to the boil (the above details are only guidelines. You can vary the quantities, depending on how creamy and opulent you want the puree to be). It is best to use freshly ground pepper and freshly grated nutmeg. You can also replace the cream with milk for a slightly lower calorie version.
3. Drain the potatoes and mash them coarsely with a potato masher, then gradually add the butter-cream mixture, making sure to keep on stamping until the puree starts to become creamy. Now continue stirring with a whisk to achieve a super creamy consistency.
