Specialised in rôtisserie and pizzas, a breathtaking decor, La Familia has it all!
After Urban, Amore, Paname, Mamacita and Bazaar in downtown Luxembourg, Grevenmacher is welcoming a new hot spot by Gabriel Boisante and the Hickey brothers : a new neo-brasserie with revisited Luxembourgish classics as well as Mediterranean dishes.
Gabriel Boisante took the challenge to open a restaurant outside the capital by taking part in the new refurbishment project at Copal shopping center. The former storage hall in the mall looks like a 50s Californian diner with its colourful interior. While you can see the exposed black pipes and metallic beams, the yellow dining booths, the dark green velvet couch or even the peach-coloured bar all add a warm atmosphere in the restaurant.
La Familia in Grevenmacher is definitely worth a visit: bright and spacious, the restaurant offers differently coloured corners for various moods. Whether you want to sip trendy cocktails on the high chairs at the bar or prefer cozy seats at the diner booths for you and your family, La Familia has a place for every occasion. Almost all tables have plugs, so freelancers and students can focus on their work while being served scrumptious snacks in the afternoon.
‘And this is why we picked that name of La Familia, it’s to be extremely democratic, for both young and old’
G. Boisante
With a capacity for 300 people, screenings, live music as well as corporate events can be organised here. With a large parking space outside, La Familia is well-equipped to host a large group of people. All this in a friendly atmosphere, with a rich culinary offer and attractive prices.
On the food side, the restaurant highlights the Luxembourgish cuisine with, for example, the “bouchée à la reine” and the traditional “cordon bleu”. “Ham Fritten Zalot” is also served but with a twist: Italian prosciutto is added to the generous dish. La Familia offers a large selection of rôtisserie with chicken, porchetta and porc knuckle. If you are a pizza lover, Neapolitan and Romana pizzas are one of their specialties, tracing back to their first-ever restaurant Mama Loves You, where pizzas and burgers were sold. They even expanded inside the shopping center, where a small corner bistrot is open all day long to offer customers just what they need: from waffles to crepes, or even luscious slices of pizza alla pala.
Gabriel Boisante’s bustling places are usually known for their cocktails, which “is part of our DNA” as the owner himself explains. However, he is also working on developing refreshing spritzers to offer a selection of low-alcohol drinks to please everyone.
We tasted their roasted chicken with sweet potatoes fries (a highly recommended side dish) as well as a Neapolitan pizza with mortadella and truffles accompanied by homemade tomato sauce to dip your soft pizza crusts in (as described by the waiter). Both were a hit!
Gabriel Boisante is already working on future projects: his existing brewery, Twisted Cat will open a new craft brewery and restaurant in Dudelange while the district of Grevenmacher will have another opening… in Mertert, to be specific. One thing is for sure, we will be back for more!
