Château de Pommard released, on the 7th of July their first certified organic vintage, the 2019 Clos Marey-Monge cuveés. This marks a real achievement in the vision of the Carabello-Baum family and presents the challenges and triumphs of converting a 20-hectare vineyard to organic and biodynamics and the importance of the soil composition in making better-tasting wines.
Early July, Château de Pommard announced the release of the 2019 Clos Marey-Monge cuveés, the first to receive organic certification from a French certifier, accredited by the INAO (National Institute of Origin and Quality). This achievement is a recognition of the Château’s commitment to wines that are better tasting, better for people’s health and better for our planet.
“The organic certification is the first milestone in our journey towards biodynamic certification,” says Michael Baum, CEO & Propriétaire of Château de Pommard. “Five years ago we started using organic farming methods and natural remedies to fight disease in the vineyard. We’ve seen the Clos come back to life with healthy soils and healthier vines that are more resilient and produce better fruit. Today, our wines are more energetic and display more aromas and flavors than ever.”
The more than 25,000 clients visiting each year, can now enjoy a new tasting experience focused on the newly released organic vintage. The Clos Marey-Monge tasting is available for 41€.
The six 2019 Clos Marey-Monge organic wines are available for sale directly at the Château, on their website, through private client sales team and in fine wine retailers and restaurants around the world.
