The MUDAM – Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art- in «Dräi EechelenPark» has been offering eclectic and varied exhibitions for many years. Discover the new programme for the upcoming months!
- MUDAM’s 25th anniversary collection presents more than 40 works on the forms and ways of thinking about art. It emphasizes the diversity of materials in conceptual art and the reflection on the multiplicity of contemporary art. This exhibition can be visited until the 18th April 2022.
- William Kentridge is known for his productions of animated films created from charcoal drawings, his performances and his plays. In collaboration with the Philharmonie, the Grand Théâte du Luxembourg and MUDAM, he co-designed and created the Red Bridge Project. The exhibition More Sweetly Play the Dance presents narrative and storytelling works, with a focus on absurdity in a world of certainty. The display consists of sculptures, drawings, sound works and videos and is set to run until 30 August 2021.
- From the 1st May to the 19th September 2021, MUDAM presents Portrait of a Young Planet, an exhibition designed by Thomas Hirschhorn, who was inspired by the renowned Edward Steichen’s collection The Family of Man. It highlights the question of the human condition in different communities, the role of man in the 21st century society, often in connection with the idea of sharing experiences of all kinds. Hirschhorn emphasises the importance of the media and the role of a human being in today’s world.
- The exhibition Enfin Seules, on view from the 1st May to the 19th September 2021, consists of 200 images from the Archive of Modern Conflict’s collection. This selection includes forgotten stories of early photographic production from around the world. Enfin Seules consists of a plant world with flowers, mushrooms, stalagmites and other natural forms.
After all these visits, be sure to visit MUDAM’s openly accessible café, designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. After months of closure during the lockdown, it has reopened its doors from noon to 3pm and offers a vegan or flexitarian brunch with regional products and Luxembourg specialities from 10am to 3pm on weekends.
