On the 15th of April, Food-a-mental invited its ambassadors, its pro members and members of their respective teams, to a Food-a-menTable at the Hotel Le Royal to discuss the current situation of HORECA in the presence of Christophe Lehoux a “mental and performance coach”.
This new edition of Food-a-menTable aimed to address issues regarding staff-management during the COVID-period, but above all to tackle motivational difficulties as the HORECA sector approaches a return to “normal” activities. This was an opportunity for members to express any questions or fears they may have before a resumption, which is likely to be intense, as HORECA’s customers and professionals are becoming impatient.
To help them in their reflection and their challenges, Food-a-mental invited Christophe Lehoux, founder of YouPerf “At the service of human performance” and consultant “Mental and Performance Coach” at House of Fitness 360 in Bridel. Throughout his career, he has accompanied recognised athletes and still actively coaches for major competitions, such as the world championships and the Olympic Games in various sports disciplines. Indeed, most athletes spend 80% of his or her time training and 20% of his or her time in competition. But for a chef, kitchen staff or a waiters, it’s mostly the exact opposite! HORECA’s leaders and members spend 80% of their time on the job and comparably very little time in training. The approach and perspective insight of a mental coach is therefore quite valuable. For Christophe, it has been clear that this pandemic will bring about a change in the previous models of operation – but equally, changes in one’s own perception and commitment, as well as in the individual’s mindset towards work. It is therefore important to understand that this whole situation can be mentally overwhelming for all those concerned. During this Food-a-menTable, they wanted to ease some of that burden and allow them to express themselves on their problems and challenges.
