In autumn this year, the ministry will draw up new strategy guidelines and priority areas that require imminent action to improve the continued development of tourism in the Grand Duchy. Another key aspect that will shape national tourism over the coming years is the promotion of remembrance tourism (tourisme de mémoire), which combines three inseparable axes that contributed to shaping the contemporary identity of our country: the memory of the world conflicts of the 20th century, the industrial heritage and the construction of the European project. One of the key projects in this area, for example, will be the upgrading of the former ship “MS Princess Marie-Astrid”, the ship on which the Schengen Agreement was signed. Finally, to continuously strengthen the offer of active services for tourists, an analysis of the ‘Rent a Bike’ system will be carried out in order to improve and synergize the system.
Lex Delles emphasizes their efforts for active innovation, indicating that “the 2021 edition of ‘Lëtzebuerg, dat ass Vakanz’ is characterised by its great diversity, and focuses in particular on the digitalisation of the tourist offer while continuing to promote active tourism. In the long term, the development of a new tourism strategy will enable us to exploit our tourism potential in a sustainable way.” Confident of the diversity and quality of national tourism, their efforts “will pave the way for a recovery of this sector, which has a considerable economic impact in Luxembourg.”
