On Friday 2 April, Luxlait inaugurated its new installation in front of a large number of journalists and in the presence of the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development and the Minister for Energy and Spatial Planning. This new infrastructure allows the company to supply more or less 10% of its annual energy needs with green energy.
Being environmentally friendly is an integral part of Luxlait’s values. Through various measures, the agricultural cooperative is constantly reducing its carbon footprint. A major step in this commitment has just been achieved on the roof of the factory. As Gilles GERARD, CEO of Luxlait, points out, “our contribution to a sustainable future is one of the priorities of our development policy. We must make it a priority to produce in a responsible manner while respecting our environment”.
In presence of Mrs. Carole DIESCHBOURG, Minister of Environment, Climate and Sustainable Development, and Mr. Claude TURMES, Minister of Energy and Spatial Planning, Luxlait inaugurated its new photovoltaic installation on Friday 2 April 2021. With a total of 5,391 photovoltaic panels, this installation is among the largest in the Grand Duchy.
Almost the entire usable roof (i.e. more than 14,000m2) is thus exploited to bring the total production of green electricity to ± 1.61 MWh for a total installed power of ± 1.85 MWp, which corresponds to ± 10% of Luxlait consumption.
