Suppernova, a French company, launched a great concept for gourmets at the end of 2022: allowing the public to recreate, at home, iconic recipes of renowned chefs, with the ingredients and recipe details delivered in a box. The starred chef Julien Lucas, from La Villa de Camille et Julien, is taking part in this great gastronomic adventure. He talked to us about it.
What is Suppernova?
Founded in 2022 by Rose Hébert, Harry Hébert and Stéphane Zibi, Suppernova brings together the greatest talents of the culinary industry and gourmets around a common goal: enhancing taste and making it accessible to all.
The kits are put together in the kitchens of the partner chefs and then packed in a cold box. This box keeps the desired temperature of the dishes for up to 3 days. Made of recycled materials, the box is also recyclable and reusable. The food prepared by the chefs is preserved in plastic bags (recycled PET), sous-vide, for the best possible preservation of taste.
Thanks to these unique packaging and shipping solutions, chefs can now connect with their customers, all over Europe (with the ambition to eventually reach 130 other countries), and send their best creations within 24 hours!

A watchword: simplicity
One very important point for aspiring cooks is that you don’t need any previous cooking skills to make the recipes at home. When preparing the recipes, all you have to do is watch the tutorial videos (thanks to the Suppernova application available on mobiles and tablets), in which the chefs themselves are filmed showing you the steps (cooking, dressing).
The application’s catalogue currently includes 10 chefs who offer different menus, ranging from 80€ to 250€. “À la carte” options are also available. New chefs are regularly added, and the ambition is to reach sixty chefs.

A Luxembourgish chef: Julien Lucas
Julien Lucas, starred Chef at the head of La Villa de Camille et Julien, joined this adventure “as if it was my home”, he confides. After being convinced by the concept, Julien Lucas agreed to become one of the participating chefs, while also being an investor in this fine project.
The Chef, who has chosen to close his restaurant on weekends and who wonders about the viability of staying open at lunchtime “at a time when it is difficult to find employees who agree to work in shifts”, has been seduced by this ambitious project, which is very well conducted by its founders. “Since the post-covid era, the restaurant industry has changed, as have customer habits, and it is essential to provide solutions!” The possibility for the Chef to send the same menu that he offers in his restaurant to an international clientele is only positive for him. His creations have already been tasted in Italy, Portugal and France.

He personally tested the box of an Italian Chef and was blown away by the quality of the proposed menu and particularly by its simplicity of execution. “I acted as if I knew nothing about cooking and it was extremely easy to prepare, and in the end, my wife and I had the sensation of having eaten in a gastronomic restaurant!” All this in the comfort of your living room, with a bottle of wine from your cellar. “I am convinced that this project will spread worldwide,” he concludes enthusiastically.
Suppernova is simply another way of experiencing gastronomy. Just as tasty. And at KACHEN, we love it!
