The uncertainties of the health crisis have led to the rescheduling of the 2023 edition of the LUGA horticultural exhibition. We will have to wait until 2025 to see the “LUGA 2023 – Luxembourg Urban Garden” in full bloom, to provide the best experience for the public.
Since its official launch in 2019, the A.s.b.l. LUGA 2023 has been able to register a number of project ideas in the run-up to the “LUGA 2023 – Luxembourg Urban Garden” horticultural exhibition, which was supposed to take over the city of Luxembourg from May to October 2023.
However, the health crisis, including the shortage of raw materials and labour, as well as economic uncertainties have significantly slowed down the progress of the exhibition project. The rendez-vous is already set for 2025 in order to offer an exceptional experience.
Romain Schneider, minister of agriculture, viticulture and rural development and the mayor of Luxembourg City, Lydie Polfer, are convinced that “The LUGA Experience: sowing in 2023 – harvesting in 2025” will lead to the completion of the first phase of the renaturation of the Petrusse and the horticultural exhibition in 2025. This path is reflected in the participation of citizens in the first development projects, particularly for market gardening, the launch of a website for exchange between actors in the environmental sector and the organisation of events prior to the exhibition.
The LUGA, which aims to showcase the country’s horticultural, viticultural and agricultural production, as well as the environmental professions, all combined with its historical, architectural and cultural heritage, becomes an experience to be lived and shared in the heart of the city and the country.
