During the month of May, Transition Days, a 9-month virtual event around living more sustainably, focusses on the issue of biodiversity and how we can make a positive difference through small actions and sustainable gardening practices. Two upcoming events give participants the chance to get involved and learn first-hand.
On Saturday, May 8th, the CELL’s annual Bourse aux Plantes marketplace will be held at Rotondes in Luxembourg city, offering organically grown fruit, vegetable, herb and flower plants from local producers. These include CELL, SEED, Lycée Technique Agricole, Krautgaart, TERRA, Daidalos and Transition Stad. Visitors are also encouraged to bring along their extra plants and seeds to give away or exchange with others.
On Wednesday, May 19th, the conference Eine andere Welt ist pflanzbar (Another world can be planted) featuring filmmaker Ella von der Haide will be held online. Clips from her film of the same name, which looks at the growing trend of community gardens in Germany, will be screened and participants will have the chance to part in a discussion on the potential for social transformation and inclusion through community gardening. Note: this event will be held in German.
An initiative by the Centre for Ecological Learning Luxembourg, this biannual festival aims to crowd-source solutions to help bring about a more sustainable future as part of the global Transition movement. The events in May will be followed by the 2021 Transition Days Festival on June 11th – 13th – more info will be released soon!
