The newest restaurant of the family “Come” opens this Friday evening, March 29, in Differdange. It’s called Come al Teatro. A Visit.
Séverin Laface is unstoppable. The serial restaurat owner has struck again: this time, he’s moving a little further south away from the capital of the Grand Duchy. It’s the city of Differdange he chose. And not just anywhere: in a listed building, please. It’s between the Aalt Stadhaus and the market square that the boss of Come à la Maison has set up his kitchens. To be precise, at number 1 rue Saint Nicolas, adjacent to the Berto bakery. Welcome to Come al Teatro!
In a theater
Past the beautiful stone gate, a staircase leads to a pleasant terrace, which will be open to customers as soon as the good days are back. A few more steps and you’re in the town’s former concert hall. “It dates back to at least the beginning of the 20th century,” explains the entrepreneur. “When they showed me the photos, I didn’t want to come. Because I was sure I wasn’t going to resist.” And yet, he ended visiting the site. On 22 December 2023, the story was set: Séverin Laface will open a restaurant with 80 seats on the first floor, and on the ground floor, on the street, a pizzeria-caterer, where you can sit down as well as take away.
The Liguria region on the menu
And on the first floor? “We’re going to do what we know best… Italian cuisine”, he smiles. And like each of his addresses, the identity of the chef will be echoed on the plates. “My chef at Differdange is Enrico Dodero, originally from Liguria. So, the menu will reflect him, with dishes from Liguria”, explains Séverin Laface. To start, Enrico Dodero offers some of his home-grown antipasti, such as Fritelle de Liguri alle erbe e salumi, vegetable fritters with herbs and cold meats, or Guazzeto di moscardini profumato alla Santoreggia and bruschetta all’aglio, small octopuses flavoured with savory accompanied with a garlic bruschetta.
The brunches are also here !
Why not continue your discovery with a traditional Primi Piatti of gnocchi with homemade pesto, followed by a Secondi de Baccala in olio, a dish of cod cooked in oil at low temperature, topped with crispy pancetta.
And the brunches that have established Come à la Maison’s reputation should be back here from Saturday 6 April, and then, every Saturdays and Sundays at noon.
In this superb high-ceilinged room, adorned with mouldings and gilding, sits an impressive and majestic Baccarat chandelier. The centrepiece of this trendy new address in Differdange, reflected in the many mirrors.
One-man shows on the programme
And since the place, which has a stage, used to be a place of entertainment (“where a lot of Italians used to come to dance on Sundays!” says Séverin Laface), it will remain a place of entertainment for various evenings, with the staging of one-man shows (“we’re working with Patrick Séquier from the Patrick Comedy Club”), as well as a few plays.
A new address to revitalise the town centre, because Differdange has still plenty to say!
