For the past 30 years, the Fondation Hëllef fir d’Natur has been working in collaboration with Cactus. Over the years, this partnership has resulted in several projects aimed at revitalizing nature, such as the Cactus Bësch project in 2011, Cactus Bongert in 2015, and Cactus Weiher in 2022. On March 21, 2024, they announced their latest initiative: Cactus Blummewiss.
The Cactus Blummewiss project focuses on the revitalization of a flower meadow in Syr, in the northwest of the country, and it will be designated as a nature reserve by the foundation.
The primary goal remains to create a diverse landscape that includes extensively used pastures, late-mown meadows, and rich fauna. Additionally, natural elements such as hedges and shrubs will be integrated to provide food and shelter for various animal species. The approximately 5-hectare field is not only intended to be a new home for native plants and animals but will also feature an educational trail illustrated by the popular Cactus mascot, “Yuppi.”
Support and Collaboration
To maximize the design and positive impact of this project, the Fondation Hëllef fir d’Natur from natur&ëmwelt will be supported by the Ministry of Environment and the Nature and Forestry Administration. The main sponsor, Cactus, has been supporting the foundation since 1993 in carrying out nature conservation projects and financing the acquisition of new land with high biological value. Additionally, Cactus funds the management of the foundation’s nature reserves, thereby contributing to the preservation of flora and fauna.
