Here you can find all our articles, past and present, on the Grand Duchy’s Michelin-starred restaurants.
For the last ten years, KACHEN has been meeting the chefs of the Grand Duchy on a regular basis. Naturally, over the years, we have been able to write portraits of the chefs featured in the Michelin Guide in our paper magazine, which comes out every season, or on our website.
So here’s a list of links where you can find out more about Luxembourg’s Michelin-starred restaurants.
2 stars:
MA LANGUE SOURIT: Cyril Molard needs no introduction… Although: the chef at Ma Langue Sourit in Moutfort was the subject of our chef profile in our December 2023 issue. Here’s his story:
1 star and 1 green star
LA DISTILLERIE: chef René Mathieu, an international star of plant-based cuisine, not only has a star in the Michelin Guide, but has also been awarded 5 radishes by We’re Smart, putting him at the top of the world’s best veggie restaurants. Here’s one of our many articles with him.
1 star
MOSCONI: Illario Mosconi is undoubtedly one of the best chefs in Luxembourg. Twice awarded 2 stars, the man who was the first double-starred Italian restaurant in the world, outside the Italian borders, has established himself in the Grund, where his restaurant is shining in harmony.
FANI: another Italian honoured with a Michelin star, Roberto Fani. He opened in April 2016, and just six months later received the Gault&Millau award for “Mediterranean Chef of the Year” in Luxembourg, as well as his first Michelin star in 2017. KACHEN met him at the time.

LÉA LINSTER: Son of Léa, Louis took over the Frisange kitchens with flying colours in 2017 retained the star earned by his Bocuse d’Or crowned mother many years before. Every year, he reinvents his cuisine and in 2021 became “Chef of the Year” for Gault&Millau.
RYODO: The only starred Japanese chef in the Grand Duchy, this chef who has worked at Mosconi, Léa Linster and Le Clairefontaine was crowned Chef of the Year 2022 by Gault & Millau. He was also awarded his first star in 2022. KACHEN met him then:
LA VILLA DE CAMILLE ET JULIEN: On 9 March 2020, Julien Lucas and his wife Camille Tardif signed the lease for their new establishment… a complicated time. They told us about their difficulties. Despite Covid, confinements and problems of all kinds, La Villa de Camille et Julien was awarded a star in 2022.
PAVILLON EDEN ROSE: Couples succeed, and here’s another one, this time in the kitchen. With their 100% gluten-free restaurant, young chefs Caroline Esch and Valérian Prade won their first star in 2023, when they were just 26 and 27. A dream come true.
APDIKT: On Monday 26 February 2024, chef Mathieu Van Wetteren was awarded a star he had been dreaming of for several years. The rumours were growing, as were the misunderstandings of many of Luxembourg’s chefs. Now it’s official: the Michelin star has been awarded. Here’s how we met him in 2018:
GUILLOU CAMPAGNE: In our issue of KACHEN, due out on 6 March 2024, you can read about Katell Guillou’s lovely getaway in Schouweiler. A delightfully poetic break just a stone’s throw from the city.
