Once a year and for two weeks, Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg encourages the implementation of actions within companies, associations or simply at home to raise awareness about Fairtrade through a national campaign called “Fairtrade Weeks”.
What kind of actions?
All kinds! Everyone is free to imagine what they want to do to promote Fairtrade products, raise awareness about Fairtrade and a more responsible consumption.
It can be a cooking class with Fairtrade products, a Fairtrade breakfast offered to employees or even a simple Fairtrade coffee available. Some kindergarten and schools will organise a cooking class with the children and then bring in the parents to taste the culinary creations and discuss around any Fairtrade problematics, as there is no age limit to start raising awareness, quite the contrary!
Some associations also organise running races to raise funds.
It is also possible on the premises of a company, to raise awareness of the work of local producers by showing videos filmed by Fairtrade International teams. This way you can discover the reality behind Fairtrade products such as bananas, coffee or coconut sugar. As part of the 30th anniversary of Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg, the association has also made a video about the real story of a young cocoa producer in the Ivory Coast.
As you can see, every action, however small, counts and can have an impact.
Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg will then relay all the initiatives on its social networks during and after the campaign.
How does it work?
Between the 1st and 15 May, everyone can register their Fairtrade action directly on the Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg website. A digital kit is available to download on the Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg website to allow everyone to promote their actions.
Worthless to say that those actions can be extended beyond 15 May for a longer impact!
Fairtrade products
The main products are coffee, bananas, chocolate, cane sugar, quinoa and the Fairtrade croissant. Although less known, rose is also very present. In Luxembourg, these products are available in 300 sales outlets!
The action of Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg
Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg raises awareness of Fairtrade issues to change purchasing behaviour. Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and the work in the field continues.
