Museum Visits
Does your mother have a passion for art and culture? Then a visit to one of the many impressive museums in the city is just the thing. The MUDAM, the Luxembourg City Museum, and the National Museum of History and Art offer a variety of fascinating exhibitions and collections that are sure to delight. Additionally, the Urban History Festival in Bonnevoie over Mother’s Day weekend features concerts, exhibitions, and tours exploring the history of the district.
If you’re up for a bit of a drive, the Völklinger Hütte in Saarland presents a captivating exhibition showcasing 128 years of German film history in collaboration with the Deutsche Kinemathek Berlin. The exhibit highlights silent films of the 1920s and features original costumes of the grande dame of German cinema, Marlene Dietrich.
Hiking and Tours
In nice weather, a leisurely hike in one of the country’s many beautiful areas is a perfect choice. The Müllerthal, with its stunning rock formations, is a classic destination. Alternatively, you can visit the Parc naturel de la Haute-Sûre, which offers wonderful hiking trails around the reservoir in addition to its swimming beaches.
To coincide with Mother’s Day, the city of Luxembourg invites you to a special event on June 6th: the “Wenzel Walk.” This tour through the oldest part of our beautiful capital includes stops at Bockfelsen, the 1735 Castle Bridge, and the Corniche. It’s a fantastic opportunity to rediscover the city’s most charming spots with your family.
