Do you know “Bún Bo Nam Bô”? This recipe for rice vermicelli with beef is aptly named, because this dish is first and foremost very beautiful. A multicoloured visual with the green of the mint and of the cucumber, the orange of the carrots, the little red dots here and there left by the chillies, the white of the vermicelli, the crispy egg rolls. A delight for the eyes and the stomach!

A little explanation of the dishes
In a Vietnamese restaurant, you will be offered two traditional dishes that cannot be ignored. The Bún Bo Nam Bô is a hot and cold dish made with vermicelli, egg rolls and beef, all of which are served with vegetables, mint and nuoc-mâm sauce.
If you are more of a hot dish, there is of course also the “Pho”, a rice noodle soup, originating from Hanoi. This emblematic dish of the country is even eaten for breakfast by the locals. It must be said that this soup is so divine that one could eat it at any time. It consists of rare beef, Thai basil, coriander, noodles, bean sprouts and a broth with many spices (cinnamon, aniseed, ginger, etc.). Tasting the noodles with a chopstick in the broth can be a bit tricky for the uninitiated, but don’t panic, most restaurants provide large bibs to protect your clothes!
Let’s not forget other dishes such as spring rolls, egg rolls or the Vietnamese sandwich, “Banh Mi”.
The good spots
Let’s start with Thanh’s, located on Boulevard Royal, a small typical restaurant open at lunchtime only. Their Bún Bò is great, with tender marinated beef and crispy spring rolls, all served in very hearty proportions! Their Banh Mi takeaway is also divine.
Discover also Mr Mai in the heart of Bonnevoie which also makes an excellent Bún Bò and of course the traditional Pho soup. They have opened a second address right in the city centre, Avenue de la Porte-Neuve. Also in Bonnevoie, the Little Saigon restaurant or the Peppermint will be perfect for an evening of Vietnamese flavours with friends.
In the Beaumont gallery in the city centre, the Saveurs Lao Thai restaurant caters for busy workers at lunchtime.
In the Gare district of Luxembourg City, the Nhân-Nhân restaurant offers a wide range of Vietnamese dishes.
