On Monday, a panel discussion was held at Expogast with many players from the hotel and tourism industry. KACHEN and its founder Bibi Wintersdorf were there.
“Passion for excellence in the field of hospitality”. A vast subject which, on Monday the 28th of November, brought together a valuable panel of professionals around a discussion organised by École d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Luxembourg. Nearly 200 people were present on Monday at Expogast to listen to the experts’ advice on the subject. Among them, nearly 90% were EHTL students, who had come on the advice of their school to listen to these exceptional careers.
Many personalities from the industry were present to discuss the subject:
- Letizia Girard created in 2015 a professional luxury network, The Vendôm Company, which works primarily with luxury hotels and starred restaurants.
- Elise Masurel, the Managing Director of the Ducasse School, providing training in the culinary and pastry arts, not only in Paris but also in Auvergne, the Philippines and India.
- Laurent Herschbach, the director of the Ritz, has had an impressive career: from receptionist to director of the world-famous Parisian hotel twenty years later.
- Gabriela Tigu is Dean of the Faculty of Business and Tourism at the University of Bucharest.
- Bibi Wintersdorf is the founder and editor of the magazines KACHEN and REESEN.
- Ragnar Fridriksson, Director of the World Federation of Cooks’ Societies, graduate of the Hautes Etudes du Goût.
For an hour, it was therefore all about the opportunity to work in countless professions in the luxury hotel industry, but above all about the development of attitudes, the personalisation of services, the importance of personal commitment, training and knowledge of the professions, the role of schools, the media, etc. But also the futur challenges were evoked, notably around an eco-responsible cuisine and hotel industry, a very concerned youth and a change in mentalities after the world pandemic.
After the panel discussion, the experts individually answered many questions from the students of the hotel school.
