In the heart of Differdange, Place du Marché, Gaïa, a new address with Spanish flavours and conviviality, has opened its doors.
Here’s an address that many have been waiting for. After Ikkuvium, Mamacita and Il Cavaliere, it’s now Gaïa’s turn to take over these magnificent premises in the heart of Differdange. Four yellow neon letters that shine like a beacon: the prospect of a dynamic, lively city centre, where it’s good to go out for a drink and dinner.
Tapas and conviviality
Place du Marché, this magnificent building has been waiting for its heart to (re)beat: it has been doing so for a few weeks now, with the arrival of the welcoming Gaïa. This Spanish-style restaurant is all about conviviality: what better way to bring the sunshine to the South than with tapas?
Well-honed partners
“We launched this project in collaboration with the municipality of Differdange”, explains Jade Leboeuf, one of the restaurant’s partners. She is joined by her husband Stéphane Rodrigues and another entrepreneurial couple, Joao Ramos and Sandra Totaro. The four of them have already set up a number of restaurants, including Emilona, in the heart of Luxembourg’s upper town, and A-Biss, in Bissen. “Previously, we also had the Hyde food truck, and we noticed that there was a big demand in the south of the country. That’s why we were interested in this project in Differdange”, says the young woman, who is also a model and content creator.
Drinks, lunch, dinner
“Gaïa is aimed at residents of Differdange and the surrounding area, but also at cross-border commuters for whom the drive is shorter than the journey into town!” And the Spanish specialities on the menu are deliberately priced to suit all tastes, with daily specials priced at €14. “Spain is all about tapas, conviviality and sharing. Everyone can find something they like, the dishes aren’t too complicated. You can just as easily come here for a drink as for lunch or dinner! “And there are even plenty of vegetarian dishes, or ones that can be adapted!” adds Jade Leboeuf.
A large terrace
Here, the dishes created by executive chef Joao Ramos and prepared by chf Delfim Neves are both hearty and generous. The Chesterfield sofas are inviting, the large wooden tables convivial, the decor sober and modern and the rough stone walls warm. It won’t be long before you’re enjoying a drink and some tapas as an aperitif – or even dinner – on the large terrace, which should be available as soon as the weather warms up.
