The Kesselbetrib coffee shop at the heart of the 1535° Creative Hub in Differdange is no longer just a place for coffee: now it’s Kesselbetrib Coffee & Food, where you can eat too!
For the past 5 months, chef Karim Nezreg has been serving cuisine from all around the world. It has to be said that after 24 years in the kitchen and 42 countries travelled all around the world, he has no shortage of inspiration to make his customers travel! “Originally, I come from Lorraine and after several years travelling, I wanted to settle down. I was really excited about the project here”. Working alone in the kitchen with 2 hobs as tools, he needs to be resourceful and inventive – just what he likes!
Food to delight every taste buds!
The chef is free to choose his menu, offering two dishes of the day (including a vegan option) according to his own wishes and those of his customers. “Sometimes they come to me with a recipe that I’m happy to make up”, he says. Many of the dishes are inspired by his 6 years spent in Asia, including his famous pad thai!
On the à la carte menu, the chef indulges himself with 5 choices of Bao, “I even bake the bread myself!” he proudly says. The most popular is the Bao Umami, with teriyaki beef and coriander (tested and approved here!). The menu also includes rice and quinoa bowls, where you can also travel with the Korean bowl (with beef), the Tokyo (with salmon), the Creole (scampi curry) or the falafel.
Every day from 10am to midday and on Saturdays until 2pm, there’s a Brunch menu with everything you need to get your day off to a good start: eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, avocado toast and pancakes! Fresh juices and smoothies are also prepared in the kitchen.
For coffee lovers, the barista service is always on hand, thanks to Eva who runs the bar. To accompany your latte, devour their cookies or delicious brownies, all homemade, or indulge in a pastry from the “Au Pain de Mary” bakery in Gasperich.
Food, drink and much more
The venue always aims to be a very convivial place, and this industrial loft with its very high ceilings and large first floor lends itself perfectly to this. Electric guitars and drums can be played at jam sessions, and there’s also a stage for stand-up comedy evenings. On Saturday mornings, it’s time for yoga and brunch!
On event nights, the chef serves flammekuechen, nachos or hot dogs!
Even though you are well seated in Differdange, you might end up travelling way further away, and damn it feels good!
