Since November 2023, the new Park Brasserie “SCHOU” has opened in Schouweiler, serving not only as a culinary hub but also as a cultural center in the revitalized town center. With a spacious playground right next door, it offers a perfect outing for the entire family.
The new restaurant is the culmination of a broader initiative to revitalize the town center, enhanced by the creation of green spaces and a playground. The restaurant is owned by Stefane Di Gregorio and Yulia Ilyazova, who have already earned a stellar reputation with their first venture, the “Aal Schoul” restaurant in Hobscheid. “We are very proud and grateful that the community has entrusted us with this project!”, Di Gregorio states.
Something for Everyone!
Park Brasserie SCHOU provides a versatile experience for the entire family. The newly designed park in the heart of Schouweiler, directly adjacent to the restaurant, features a large, attractive playground visible from the restaurant’s terrace. This allows parents to relax and enjoy their meals while the children play safely and freely.
The restaurant itself has 40 indoor seats and another 40 on the terrace, ideal for those enjoying warm days and evenings. It is also wheelchair-friendly, ensuring easy and comfortable access for all guests.
For the very young visitors, SCHOU organizes special pastry workshops twice a week. These workshops are designed to introduce young children to baking in a fun way and to give them joy in the creative handling of food.
The restaurant also offers some treats for the eye: “We regularly display works by well-known artists, which of course must suit the restaurant. If interested, the paintings can also be purchased; we function a bit like a resto-gallery,” explains Di Gregorio. Additionally, the location can be booked for private events and large groups, making it the ideal place for celebrations and special occasions.
An Unmatched Team
Chefs Prosper and Benjamin form the dynamic kitchen team at Park Brasserie. Despite their different backgrounds and cooking styles, they complement each other excellently and together contribute to the unique culinary identity of the restaurant. “There’s no hierarchy in the kitchen,” Di Gregorio explains. “Our two chefs work together on equal footing.”
Chef Prosper, originally from Zimbabwe, has made a name for himself on the international stage. Not only is he a winner of several international cooking competitions, but he is also the founder of a popular Facebook group with over a million followers. His specialty is the fusion of global cuisines, with a special emphasis on incorporating African influences into modern dishes. His passion and deep understanding of global culinary arts are palpable in each of his dishes.
Chef Benjamin, born in Belgium, brings a strong passion for culinary innovation. He is known for his creative approaches in the kitchen, often combining traditional Belgian elements with surprising new techniques. His commitment to developing new, original dishes has enriched the menu of SCHOU with many exciting and refined dishes.
Surprisingly Different!
The menu features bistro classics with regional ingredients as well as Luxembourgish classics like Gromprekichelcher, Königinnenpastete, or Kniddelen. The two chefs have proven that they can do more than just bistro cuisine during a special presentation on April 29, 2024. They prepared a three-course menu with French-Asian fusion cuisine, paired with cocktails based on the locally produced BeWo-Gin.
The tasting menu started with a carpaccio of Saint-Jacques, refined with citrus fruits and passion fruit, accompanied by a refreshing cocktail made from Gin Bewo, apple, and lemon. The main course was tender, slow-cooked Magret de Canard, served with an aromatic sauce of pomegranate and cassis, along with confit red beets in black tea and crispy Grenaille potatoes, rounded off with a cocktail made from Gin Mare and tomato juice. For a grand finale, a chocolate cigar filled with strawberry cream was presented on a crème brûlée in an ashtray, accompanied by a cocktail made with spicy Kraken Rum. As crazy as it is creative, and also very delicious!
