Cheese has a magical power: it creates a warm and friendly moment. In the middle of winter, it is impossible to miss raclettes, tartiflettes, fondues savoyardes and other Mont d’or. Luxembourg’s restaurant owners are well aware of this, and many of them offer ephemeral or permanent mountain atmospheres to bring mountain lovers a little closer to the summits.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of small chalets that will take your taste buds to new heights.
The pop-ups
- Chouchou’s Chalet in Luxembourg
Starting November 21st, Chouchou’s Chalet offers an ephemeral culinary escape, focusing on delicious cheesy delights in a convivial setting. Ideal for cheese enthusiasts and larger groups, it blends exquisite flavours with a warm, inviting atmosphere.
- Mont Dorf in Mondorf
Until January the 29th, the event hall located in the former thermal baths of the Domaine Thermal will be renamed “Le Mont Dorf”. Find yourself in the heart of a winter sports resort, with, on the menu, traditional raclettes, pierrades and fondues but also mountain salad, crozet gratin or tartiflette! The whole package.
- Chalet de la Brasserie Schuman in Luxembourg
Raclette, fondue, flammekueche… and mulled wine are on the programme. The lovely chalet atmosphere, fireplace, Christmas tree and animal skins have returned to the Brasserie Schuman!
- Bistro Quai in Grevenmacher

Fancy an all-you-can-eat raclette? La Table de la Chapelle and Dipso in Luxembourg offer this type of formula, so you’re in for a treat!
Year Round
For true cheese lovers regardless of the season!
- Beim Meyer An der Scheier in Bascharage
Raclette, pierrade and fondue are served in the cosy little wooden chalet next to the Meyer butcher’s shop. Previously temporary, it is now set to remain all year round. In summer, you simply need to make a reservation to be sure of being able to enjoy raclettes and fondues. And here you don’t need to be two to enjoy a Savoyard fondue! Everything can be taken for a single person.
- Tchiz in Belval
This pretty restaurant in Belval has its fans in summer and winter. In its sophisticated and warm setting, it is pleasant to let the time fly by the (digital) fire in this venue specialising in cheeses: a Savoyard fondue, a baked Camembert or a Mont d’Or? Let yourself be tempted! If you like meat, tarts flambées and other cheesy burgers, you will not be left out. Only thing missing: raclette!
- Chalet Hot Stone in Vianden
Because there is more to life than Savoie, there is Tyrol too! This rustic and cosy chalet will offer Tyrolean specialities, pierrades and cheese or meat fondues. With a view of the castle!
- Edelwyss in Kopstal
When the Alps come to Luxembourg, you get this alpine chalet in Kopstal! Raclette and fondue even in summer. Yes, you read that right, and why not after all.
- Chalet la Kreuzerbuch in Hobscheid
Just 4 km from the Domaine de la Gaichel, on the edge of the Kreuzerbuch forest and accessible by pretty footpaths, the Chalet Kreuzerbuch transports you to an altitude of 382 m. Its cuisine, with its simple, authentic flavours such as raclettes, Savoyard and Burgundy fondues and rustic tartines, has a warm, friendly atmosphere.
