Speciality coffee and sweet treats on the one hand, homemade focaccia and Iberian specialities on the other – that’s the winning combo of a new gourmet corner that recently opened in the city centre.
Summer is in full swing, and there’s a new collaboration bound to delight. Curious Buds is teaming up with Le Coin Gourmet by Origins to open a small gourmet corner at 11 Av. de la Porte-Neuve in the city.
The adventure began with a phone call from Luis, one of the partners at Origins, a tapas bar in Gasperich, to Junn, the founder of Curious Buds, proposing that they join forces in this new location, with the idea that each activity would complement the other. A few months later, the two companies jointly opened this new culinary venue.
Now it’s time to present each team’s specialities. As Luis humorously points out, “we mainly look after the savoury side of the place and Junn, Curious Buds, looks after the sweet side”.
Coffee in all its forms
We first introduced you to Curious Buds when it opened in 2022. Since then, the company has left its first premises in Hollerich to return stronger than ever with not one but two new locations. The first in partnership with yogaloft in Strassen and the second with Le Coin Gourmet. Junn also points out that “this second address is an anchor point in the city, with a location that gives us great visibility and footfall throughout the day”.
Here, you’ll find speciality coffee, with “guest roasters” (a specific coffee available for several weeks) that change regularly to offer customers a rotation of coffees served, allowing for a variety of discoveries and tastes. Homemade cakes and cookies are also available, including the famous Matcha Brookie, a combination of a cookie and a brownie.
Curious Buds is also continuing its subscription programme, which allows subscribers to receive coffee beans from a range of different roasters every month, either directly at home or by collection from one of the brand’s two shops.

Iberian delicacies
Le Coin Gourmet is in fact an extension of Origins. The aim of this new shop is to enable them to sell the wine and charcuterie served in their restaurant. The latter comes directly from an Iberian farm in Spain, from a producer friend of Luis. Fresh sandwiches, salads and delicious homemade focaccia complete the offer. Finally, after 3 p.m., these fresh products will be sold at 50% off in order to prevent food waste.

Curious Buds caters for early risers, Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4.30 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 4.30 pm, while Le Coin Gourmet caters for late risers with its lunch offer, wines and charcuterie, and is open from 11 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday. The aim is for the two establishments to complement each other.
It should be noted that each retains its own area of expertise, which means that you won’t be able to enjoy a focaccia before 11 am and that conversely, the place will no longer serve coffee from 4.30 pm. The same applies to the closing days for each of the outlets.
