André Mehlen, wine controller at the Viti-Vinicole Institute (IVV), has been appointed General Manager of Domaines Vinsmoselle.
In these times of change, who else but a proven expert could take the helm of Domaines Vinsmoselle? By choosing André Mehlen as the next General Manager, the wine cooperative is betting on hands-on experience and know-how. The man, current head of the AOP department and wine controller at the Institut Viti-Vinicole, is well-known in the wine world of Luxembourg.
This nomination is also a significant change for Vinsmoselle in terms of approach, which up until now had always elected a director with a background outside of the viticulture. The General Manager he will replace, Patrick Berg, came from the automotive industry, and his predecessors, Georges Schaaf and Constant Infalt came respectively from communication and accounting.
At the end of October, President Josy Gloden explained to the press that there was no rush to find a substitute for Patrick Berg, who had left his position at the end of July earlier this year. He points to past changes in leadership, for instance in 2015, where the vacancy in the post had lasted six months between the departure of Georges Schaaf and the arrival of Patrick Berg. Furthermore, he explains that the cooperative awaited the end of the harvest season before launching the selection process.
Now the decision has been made and the council has found their new leader in André Mehlen, who will take up his position as General Manager of Domaines Vinsmoselle on the 1st of February.
At the same time, the cooperative announces that there are still many more structural changes that are yet to come.
