Luxembourg is no exception to the food trucks craze, with numerous concepts that roam the roads all year round to satisfy food lovers, as well as dedicated organised festivals. A few kilometres from us, in Nancy, the starred Chef Charles Coulombeau (La Maison dans le Parc) has jumped into this “street food” adventure by opening Izakaya, a food truck with Japanese flavours. We tell you all about it.
When starred restaurants embrace street food
- Izakaya in Nancy – Chef Charles Coulombeau
When local products from Lorraine are mixed with Japanese references, the result is Izakaya, a food truck nestled in the heart of Nancy. In the truck, you will find the team of starred Chef Charles Coulombeau (La Maison dans le Parc). “I send a cook from the restaurant as some sort of quality guarantor, and alongside him, we have put together a dedicated and highly motivated team,” the Chef explained. “Our aim was to offer different street food products, prepared with refined products and organic vegetables while bringing a Japanese touch”, explains the Chef (editor’s note: the Chef worked for some time in Japan with a Japanese Chef).
On the menu, you will be able to taste a veal burger from Lorraine with shochu, fermented vegetables “tsukemono”, a fish burger with fennel kimchi, brownie with soy sauce or wasabi yoghurt… and every day at lunchtime, a dish of the day with Japanese inspiration. As you may have guessed, all of these proposals are an invitation to a gourmet escape and to an awakening of the senses through your taste buds.
In terms of organisation, you can pre-order your dish online, and pick it up at the food truck location (5 locations from Tuesday to Saturday). A great idea for a weekend of culinary discovery, to be combined with a visit to Nancy!
