The Michelin Guide ceremony for France 2024 was held in Tours on Monday afternoon. Situated on the border with Luxembourg, K de l’Auberge de la Klauss was awarded its first Michelin star.
The starred chefs were present and delighted to take part in the ceremony, including 3-starred chefs Hélène Darroze, Christophe Bacquié and Arnaud Donckele, who took part in the live interviews before the world’s gastronomic celebration… Undoubtedly, French cuisine stands as one of the most revered globally, as highlighted by Gwendal Poullenec, the international director of the Michelin Guides, during the introduction of the 115th selection of the Red Guide.
This year’s list features a new star in the Greater Luxembourg Region, awarded to Domaine de la Klauss, as well as two new three-star restaurants: Fabien Ferré’s La Table du Castellet and Jérôme Banctel’s Le Gabriel (Paris 8th). Noteworthy among the establishments is chef Frédéric Anton’s restaurant Le Jules Verne, nestled within the Eiffel Tower, was awarded a coveted 2nd star.
A first star for Benoit Potdevin
Just a few kilometres from the Luxembourg border, a new star is shining brightly over an establishment: the Le K restaurant run by chef Benoit Potdevin at Domaine de la Klauss.
This is what the Michelin Guide tells us: “This imposing freestone building, located at the crossroads of France, Germany, and Luxembourg, has maintained a familial atmosphere. At K, under a beautiful timber frame and a Trévise crystal chandelier, chef Benoit Potdevin offers a refined and delicate contemporary cuisine. Between his “collection maraîchère” menu, dedicated to plants, and his signature dishes, it’s hard to choose! Some examples: crab legs and claws refreshed with kalamansi vinegar, accompanied by caviar; chanterelle and shiitake tartlet with lovage; line-caught sea bass, artichokes in barigoule, and poultry jus with red wine… At the Komptoir, a more relaxed atmosphere, with tapas and wood-fired cooking.”
